Our History
The Student Representative Council was founded in 1969, after a recommendation from the Head Prefect in 1967. Since then the SRC has been representing the students both within and outside the school.
It is interesting to note that their appears to be a cycle with student attitude towards the SRC. Every few years the only task the SRC was able to do was try and raise the reputation of and involvement of the students with, the council. This appears to result out of a lack of action by the SRC in some years, for various reasons.
In the beginning, the position of School Captain was not related to the SRC. The SRC elected a President from within the council and the role of the School Captains was purely to represent the school in the community and act as prefects. This changed in 1991, when a change in policy meant that the School Captains automatically took the positions of Presidents on the SRC, with the prefect system being phased out many years before.
